Hey, ya'll!

Yesterday, February 20th, was a huge success! The Mini-Regional hosted by us, Team 2220, had nearly forty teams compete in a friendly competition to hone driving skills and discover glitches in the robots.Thirty-six 2 minute and 15 second matches were run with six robots competing each time, three per alliance.

The matches started with a fifteen second autonomous mode, a time when the robots are moving purely using code written by programmers. Next is the teleoperated period, were human drivers step forward and drive the robots using a complex joystick. The last twenty seconds are, for this game, the finale where robots have the option of scoring extra points by hanging from the tower, hanging from a robot hanging from a tower or sitting on the platform on the tower.

The event yesterday was unbelievably crowded with members of other teams, family and spectators. Most notably was our principal Dr. Polly Reikowski and the esteemed Senator, Mr. Jim Carlson. There were smiles, laughs and cheers all around.

The concession stand was open and bustling all day, the mothers of our team members volunteering to run it. Music was kindly provided by Duc, a previous member of team 2220. The slide-show and live feed were enabled by Tron, the mentor for the Communications sub-team - previously the Web sub-team, who donated a web-cam and camera to that end.

The Media sub-team was running around all day taking footage and photos for the web site while members of all the build sub-teams busied themselves with our robot, running the scoring table, and assisting other teams in the name of gracious professionalism.

The whole event was an incredible blast, fun was had by all and once more we prove that science and technology isn't all lab coats and dull computer code!

Thank you so much to each and every person who attended, watched the live broadcast or were sending us good thoughts!
