2012 FIRST Robotics Team 2220 - Eagan, MN

Feb. 18: Practice Invite at EHS

10:00 AM Update

Today, as early as 7:00 A.M. the Eagan Robotics team was already at work at the Eagan High School gym setting up the field for todays Practice Invitational! While the construction team was constructing the field, the others were working on getting our robot up and running. Soon enough, the invited teams began to arrive. About twenty teams, including us, attended the practice. The bleachers were packed, and the teams were ready. But before the practice could begin, there were some announcements from our student leaders, and mentors about what was going on. Then, the national anthem was sung, and the practice had begun. The visiting teams were in the cafe prepping their robot for the battle, while our team did the same for ours. We also got to hang out with the super cool mascot of team 3313 who was dressed up as none other than the leader of the Decepticons, Megatron!

11:00 AM Update

At 10:00 AM the first battle took place. Balls were scooped up, and then shot. But there was an issue. The amount of robots running was overloading the wireless network, causing a few of the robots to be unable to respond to commands, or just plain not move at all. But no need to fear, the wireless router is being fixed. There is also a little bit of a time crisis going on due to not having enough time to run our programs. Now on the bright side, our teams robots first ball launched shot at an amazingly far range, going right over the baskets, and out of the field. We even got an applause!

2:00 PM Update

The lunch break is over. We are powered up for our robots next run! The wireless network is still an issue right now. Each team is helping to try to find out what is wrong with the network. When our robot went up for its next round, it did better than before. Team 2220 is pleased to see all invited teams safely practicing for the regionals.
